This exhibition is a continuation of my personal concerns in 3D graphics started 20 years ago. In 1998 at the Old Gallery in Cluj I introduced for the first time the real objects alongside their virtual simulations, consisting of images and animations generated using software modeling and 3D rendering.
From then until now, the visual experience evolved into augmented reality,where the visitor interacts with certain elements of the real space and this is able to trigger certain processes around the image of the real objects seen through the mobile phone screen.
So the operation of this application is conditioned by the presence of works in the real space, namely the phone’s camera positioning on the real work of the exhibition.
Basically there is a filter of reality, a graphic interpretation of it with the personal, virtual and creative graphics elements. This is possible by installing the user’s mobile phone of a first application made especially for this exhibition, which can be downloaded from GooglePlay.
Another approach (the second application) is “immersed” in the virtual space, the space of the painting, achieved with a VR headset or in a virtual gallery like an exhibition space or a famous painting such as the “The mystery and the melancholy of a street “by Giorgio de Chirico. This application is working independently, it is not conditioned by the presence of the works in the exhibition and it can be viewed simultaneously on any meridian. It can be also viewed online on the desktop wallpaper by going to the web site indicated and having the appropriate player installed on your computer.
The technical support for the implementation of the two applications, the interactivity is provided by Mihai Anton, the media programmer who staged all the 3D shapes and the images taken by the author of the exhibition.
The creative act of this exhibition not comes from a denial or from a technological pride, but from a revaluation, from using of the new means of expression, without stating any value hierarchy between the new media and the painting, graphics or the sculpture. The process to achieve this type of work is a starting point however. The drawing is the basis of all, as the principle of the modeling in clay is applied in the virtual modeling. It operates with the same elements: the form, the light, the color.
All these contribute to a paradigm shift, to the new relationship between the public and the work on a new type of the perception and the interaction with the work of the art in time and in space, becoming a starting point for the new approaches and the openings.
